[Abk. für Micro Processing Unit 401, dt. »Mikroprozessoreinheit 401«] die, Schnittstelle für den Anschluss von MIDI-Geräten und -Instrumenten an den PC, die durch den Hersteller Roland definiert wurde und zum Standard geworden ist. Sie ist nach einer Steckkarte dieses Herstellers benannt. Als MPU-401-Schnittstelle wird fast immer der Gameport der Soundkarte benutzt.
